LF EDGE AI -- EDGE PROJECT PROPOSAL

On February 22nd, 2024, the DFWCIA hosted an enlightening online seminar titled "LF EDGE AI-- EDGE Project Proposal." At the helm of this event was Tina Tsou, a prominent figure renowned for her expertise in infrastructure and product development, with a keen emphasis on security and scalability. As the director of international teams at Arm, Tina has spearheaded strategic projects, leaving an indelible mark on the industry. Her tenure at Arm and Philips Lighting has yielded groundbreaking technological advancements, boasting over 100 patents across China and the United States.

During the seminar, Tina imparted invaluable insights covering a spectrum of topics ranging from AI and IoT to Edge computing. The audience was highly engaged, actively participating and posing thought-provoking questions, thereby enriching the learning experience with Tina's expertise. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all attendees for their presence and eagerly anticipate future events of similar caliber.

Event Report: Tips to Turn Your Startup Dream Into a Reality

On July 23rd, 2023, DFWCIA hosted an online seminar: My Entrepreneurial Dream. Kai Xu, a renowned entrepreneur, who is the founder and executive of companies in a various industries including electronics, solar, artificial intelligence and education, etc.
Kai Xu hosted an engaging online seminar on "My Entrepreneurial Dream," sharing valuable insights on entrepreneurship, the importance of family, humility, and identifying business opportunities. Audience actively participated and asked questions. Enriching learning experience with Xu. Grateful for attendees' presence and look forward to future events.

May 6th DCIA Tech Seminar Report: Industrial Internet Platform and China’s Practice

On May 6th, 2023, DFWCIA hosted an online membership meetup: Industrial Internet Platform and China's Practice.
In the beginning of the meetup, the DFWCIA VP of Operation Jessie Du introduced our organization and introduced our speakers Yingyuan Jiang and Zhonghai Su. Yingyuan is a graduate student in computer science at the University of Texas at Dallas, and Zhonghai Su is a PhD candidate of School of Management at Zhejiang University.
During the session, Yingyuan introduced the concept of Industrial Internet, which integrates various industrial data sources, including machines, sensors and other IoT devices. The goal is to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality through the use of advanced digital technologies. The architecture of the Industrial Internet includes Application layer, Platform layer, IaaS layer and Edge layer. Yingyuan also introduced the Industrial data classification and collection. Zhonghai introduced his research regarding data enabling and digital industrial platform development. He also introduced the pathways to IIP and the comparisons of these different pathways.

April 21st---Artificial Intelligence from Past to the Future Seminar Report

On April 21st, 2023, DFWCIA hosted an online seminar: Artificial Intelligence from Past to the Future with Dr. Fei Huang. Dr. Huang is a renowned expert in the field of AI, and a senior director and principal research scientist from Alibaba Damo Academy. Our event chair and Director of Education Zhiguang Huang introduced our organization and Dr. Huang at the beginning of the seminar.
Dr. Huang first introduced what is AI, then the history of AI. AI started from 1950 with the Turning Test, the the Term AI, Eliza, AI Winter, Deep Blue, Watson, Alexa, AlphaGo etc. Then Dr. Huang introduced the current of AI and the future of AI. What impressed the audience the most is the example of Lijun Deng talking to current people in real time video call. The technologies include speech recognition, Speech Synthesis (Text-to-Speech TTS), Natural language processing(NLP), image processing, computer vision etc.

Seminar Report: Guiding Your Way To Solutions Architect

On April 16th, 2023, DFWCIA hosted an online seminar: Guiding Your Way to Solutions Architect.
First of all, the DFWCIA VP of Public Relations Chao Chen introduced our organization, and the VP of Education Tianyu Cui introduced our speaker Chaoran Wang. Chaoran is a VP and solutions architect leader in JPMC after his 4+ years experience in Amazon. Chaoran introduced the difference between Solutions Architect and Cloud Architect. Then he talked about the day-to-day life of being a Solutions architect. Some of the key activities include a weekly meeting with the Account Manager, an introduction call, a cadence call, an architecture review and a workshop/ immersion day. One topic that a lot of audience asked about and Chaoran introduced is the relationship among Account Managers, Customers and Solutions Architects. It’s amazing to see how different roles are different and how they collaborate together to succeed.

On March 12th, 2023, DFWCIA hosted an online training course for Azure fundamentals (Part II). The first part training was done on Feb 26th. Azure Fundamentals is a training course that familiarizes you with Microsoft Azure and its many services and features. Whether you're interested in compute, networking, or storage services, learning about cloud security best practices, or exploring governance and management options, think of Azure Fundamentals as your curated guide to Azure.

The meeting started at 2pm CDT. First our organization president Xin Wang introduced our organization, and next our event chair Rita Chen introduced all the volunteers who have worked hard to prepare for this event Rita Chen, Glen Fan, Shuming Liu, Mark Yin, Jie Song and our speaker Jude Chen. Jude Chen is currently a Sr. Cloud Solutions Architect at Microsoft. He has 20+ years in Server administration (Unix/Linux/Windows), IT infrastructure design and architecting, and 6+ years in Azure cloud infrastructure architecting.

On Jan 28th, 2023, DFWCIA hosted our first seminar after the Lunar New Year.
The seminar starts at 2pm CDT after we take our team photo and played some happy Lunar New Year music. First DFWCIA president Xin Wang introduced our organization and our event Chair and Director of Education Gerry Huang introduced all the volunteers who have worked hard to prepare for this event Maria Zheng, Shuming Liu, Mark Yin, Jie Song, Tianyu Cui and our speaker Timothy Allen. Timothy Allen is currently a senior data/DevOps engineer at USAA. He works part time as a adjunct professor at Austin Community College teaching DevOps topics such as Docker and Kubernetes. He also worked as a DevOps solution architect at IBM. Prior to that he served 8 years in the US Army as a secure network engineer. He is currently finishing his masters in computer science from Georgia Tech.

Jan 18th, 2023 DFWCIA and our brother organization Zaigezaigu from Silicon Valley collaborated together and organized an online panel discussion together: work as an IT professional in financial industry.
First our seminar host Boyang Dong introduced Zaigezaigu, and DFWCIA president Xin Wang introduced DFWCIA’s organization mission, vision and how we can help our community in job hunting, career development and broadcasting channels.
Our panelists today include Zhengzheng Pan and Chaoran Wang. Zhengzheng leads a team at Fidelity Investments and is the organizational owner of an enterprise-wide AI-driven capability. He has built the entire AI-Ops team from ground-up and successfully launches 10+ AI/analytics products across multiple business units. Chaoran was working at AWS for 6 years after graduating from UT Dallas in 2016 with a master's in Computer Science. Chaoran recently joined JPMorgan as VP, Lead Architect and he is mainly responsible for JPMorgan Global Public Cloud Acceleration and Product Architecture.

One of DCIA traditions is to thank our volunteers, speakers, executive committee officers, and board members who have made contributions to our community and give them gifts during the holiday season. In December 2022, our executive committee officers kept this tradition. Our community volunteer Timothy Allen designed the T-shirt. President Xin Wang, VP of Operation Jessie Du prepared the gifts, holiday cards and certificates for our community contributors and afterwards our founder & former president Yujun Liang, VP of Communications Mark Yin, Jessie and Xin helped to deliver the presents to all recipients.
We sincerely appreciate all of our speakers, executive committee officers, our BOD, volunteers and brother organizations who have helped, supported and collaborated with us in the year 2022, and we are looking forward to a more fruitful and successful new year.

November 19, 2022 ACP MetroCon: One Team One Dream

On November 19, 2022. ACP hosted the 2022 MetroCon at Plano Event Center. DFWCIA hosted the Hackathon seminar and Career Development Forum as a partner. Our president Xin Wang and Former president Dr. Logan Song were invited as speakers.
The president of DFWCIA Xin Wang hosted an online seminar “Mobile Development at Hackathons” for the youth people. Xin is a senior software engineer at Google, she has strong hackathons experience in Google, FedEx, USAA, and Lehigh. First, Xin introduced the advantage of mobile development, it’s easy to demo, easy to mock data, and what you see is what you get. Xin also introduced the technical skill set and development tool for different platforms (Android, IOS, Cross-Platform). Then, Xin did a brief explanation of MVVM architecture, which is the most popular model for mobile development. At last, Xin shared some useful examples and demonstrated how to build a mobile app from scratch.

Oct 29th, 2022 DFWCIA Tech Seminar: Chip Design Art & Engineering Report

On Oct 29th, 2022, DFWCIA hosted a seminar for our community “Chip Design Art & Engineering”.
First our host executive committee officer Gerry Huang introduced the meeting agenda. Then president Xin Wang introduced DFWCIA, why we come to DCIA: to network with many of the IT talents who have various skill sets, and dynamic industries background and experience. We share knowledge, information, and job opportunities. We can learn soft skills and technical skills via seminars, career mentorship, workshops, or taking certificates. DCIA fosters an environment for lifetime learning. Last but not least, we will expand our vision and perspectives, and grow our career to the next level.

DFWCIA Feb 2022 Leadership & Career Development Seminar

On Feb 6th, 2022, DFWCIA hosted its first virtual leadership and career development seminar of the year. We are grateful to have two remarkable industry leaders: Annie Liu, Division Information Officer from Toyota Financial Services, and Dr. Jinrong Qian, Vice President from Texas Instruments, to share their stories on how to navigate organization dynamics, maximize their impact, and grow from an engineer to an extraordinary leader. Julia Liang, the DFWCIA President, organized the event and served as the moderator. 90+ people joined our seminar to learn how to prepare ourselves, from engineers to leaders.

DFWCIA August 2021 Meetup Report

On August 29th, DFWCIA hosted the third member meetup in 2021. The theme was “Cracking the Job Interview”. Xuyong Tu, the Vice President of the membership department organized the event and served as the moderator. Speakers from Goldman Sachs, Jojo He, and Julia Liang, gave presentations about “Acing the coding challenges” and “Winning the tough interview” respectively.

DFWCIA April Member Meetup

Today DFWCIA hosted the second member meetup in 2021, the theme was “Learning Changes Life”. Robin, the director of the membership department, served as the moderator. Anny Hong, the director of the membership department and Julia Liang, the president of DFWCIA executive committee team were speakers. 57 people joined the meeting today, we learned a lot about aws certifications, EMBA and career development.

DFWCIA Mar 2021 Seminar “Winning Your Career Through Effective Communication”

Texas Dragon Toastmasters Club and DFW Chinese IT Association had jointly hosted a communication seminar on March 14, 2021. The seminar’s objective is to inspire our IT Professionals to improve their communication skills and become effective communicators.

DFWCIA Jan 2021 Seminar “Introduction to Snowflake”

DFW Chinese IT Association (DFWCIA) successfully hosted a virtual seminar: “Winter is here, Introduction to Snowflake” on Jan 17th, 2021. Snowflake is a cloud-based data-warehousing company, and Snowflake IPO was the largest software IPO in history. Since many people work in the Cloud and big data field and more people are passionate about it in our community, we decided to host a tech seminar introducing Snowflake. 

DCIA Dec Seminar “The Journey Of A High-Tech Entrepreneur”

DFW Chinese IT Association (DCIA) successfully hosted a virtual leadership seminar on entrepreneurship on Dec 13th, 2020. The seminar’s objective is to inspire our IT professionals to get out of their comfort zone, unleash their potentials, and discover their possibility to become an intrapreneur or entrepreneur.
